Day 1
Hiking with a local guide in the old town in Mariestad
Dinner in the evening at Emils Restaurang on the shores of lake Vänern.
Accomodation at Hotel/Hostel Waterside
Day 2
Local guide tells the story of the prison in Mariestad
Transport by car to Sjötorp and Göta Kanal.
Upon arrival in Sjötorp, we visit cafe and Baltzar in the old shipyard in the middle of Sjötorp.
On the upper floors is the Canal and Maritime Museum. Here you can take part in the exciting history that is reminiscent of past times of shipping on Lake Vänern and the Göta Canal.
Then we pick up the bikes and a good packed lunch that comes from the local fishermen .
During the day we will pass 16 locks and several bridges embedded in beautiful greenery.
The cycling goes along the Göta Canal’s fine cycle path all day.
We stop along the way and take our packed lunch.
In the afternoon we arrive at our accommodation Wassbacken where a well-deserved and good dinner is served.
Day 3
We start the day with breakfast before we start the return trip to Sjötorp, today we can take the opportunity to stop at the places we missed yesterday.
Arriving in Sjötorp, the bikes are returned and the tour ends with a good lunch served by restaurant Kajutan, which is located directly at the locks and canal bridge in Sjötorp.
